Beautiful Walks in the Forest of Dean

Symonds Yat – If you ask a lot of people to tell you the most picturesque part of the Forest of Dean, they will say Symonds Yat and Symonds Yat Rock, and it’s easy to see why. From Symonds Yat, you can enjoy the Wye Valley, the beautiful countryside and the River Wye on one walk. It’s a walk that boasts breathtaking views and multiple viewpoints.

Cannop Ponds and Nagshead – Speech House is a key part of the Forest of Dean, and the walk from the hotel to Cannop Ponds is a great way to soak up everything that the countryside has to offer. It’s an excellent place to see waterbirds, kingfishers and a whole host of other wildlife. When you reach Nagshead, you can enjoy the ancient woodland.

Puzzlewood – This ancient forest is the ideal place to enjoy a walk in the Forest of Dean. Puzzlewood is often used in television and film, including Doctor Who and Star Wars, and it really is an awe-inspiring place. The woodlands are enchanting, historic and full of impressive sights.

Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail – If you prefer a walk with something special, head along the Sculpture Trail. It features a wide range of contemporary sculptures, both temporary and permanent, all of which have been inspired by the natural surroundings. It’s an excellent way to enjoy nature, art and the creative side of the area.

Woorgreens and Crabtree Hill – The Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust have put a lot of energy into creating habitats for rare birds, dragonflies and reptiles in this area, and so it certainly has a lot of wildlife for you to enjoy. When you reach the top of Crabtree Hill, you can enjoy unrivalled views of the forest.

Cleddon Falls Walk – Starting at Bigsweir Bridge, the Cleddon Falls Walk takes you through the stunning scenes of Wye Valley until you reach the falls themselves. The clear waters surrounded by woodland are an impressive sight, and it’s a relaxing place to unwind.
