Whether you are celebrating a special birthday, end-of-term party, or a big family get-together, The Wyndham is the place to hold it.
A former manor house which became a pub in the mid-19th century; today, The Wyndham is a cosy country inn. Not so cosy, though, that it can’t accommodate a fair number of your summer party guests overnight. That’s because The Wyndham’s main building itself has eight en-suite rooms while there are another four rooms in nearby Wyndham Barn. Go to Wyndham Lodge, and you will find another 12 bedrooms guests can book. That makes 24 bedrooms in total.
In terms of the facilities, your guests can enjoy a private bar and hot buffet dinner or a sit-down meal at the restaurant.
Food and drink at The Wyndham
In our restaurant, we specialise in serving the best of British food. That means producing excellent traditional home cooking by our team of chefs. You and your guests can tuck into steak, ale & root pie, buttered mash, & seasonal greens, for instance. Then again, perhaps you would prefer a Wyndham burger, aged cheddar, crispy bacon & chips. Vegan options are also available.
The Wyndham location and surroundings
Those guests that stay overnight can enjoy a morning stroll around Clearwell Village, where the Wyndham is located. Surrounding the village is the picturesque Forest of Dean, offering many lovely woodland walks and the opportunity to embrace nature in all its glory.
You can also pop down to Clearwell Caves. This is the former location of an ancient iron ore mine, and it’s where you can learn more about the area’s history.
Clearwell itself was one of three hamlets, while the village dates back to the 14th century. Then it was named Wellington (the place of the spring) but was later changed to the more poetic sounding Clowerwell (spring amongst the clover). From there, the village was eventually named Clearwell.
