Adult-only activities in the Forest of Dean

While getting away with the whole family can be great, sometimes it’s nice to leave the kids at home and have a bit of adult-only time. More relaxing and a lot quieter, child-free breaks are a great way to unwind.

If you’re planning a trip to the Forest of Dean and want to spend some quality time with your other half without the kids in tow, there are plenty of activities to choose from. Here are some of our favourites to get you started.

Hillside Brewery

Hillside Brewery makes a great destination for an adults-only day out. Located between Huntley and Boxbush on the A40, @Hillsidebrewery “Is an exciting, family owned and run Gloucestershire brewery, built on traditional skills and values.”

Visit the brewery to sample their outstanding brews and to learn all about the brewing process. Find out how local produce and local tastes have influenced their beers and sample some of the latest ales and lagers fresh off of the production line.

Take a tour of the brewery or, to make the most of your trip to Hillside, book yourself an experience day. These experience days give you the chance to combine a bit of outdoor adventure with some serious beer tasting.

Have a go at activities like laser combat and archery tag before hitting the brewery terrace to enjoy a well-earned drink in the sun.

Camping

The Forest of Dean is home to an adults-only campsite that’s ideal for child-free getaways. Deanwood Caravan and Camping Park is located in the heart of the Forest of Dean and is surrounded by footpaths, bike paths, and natural attractions. The Nags Head RSPB site is just three miles away and the towns of Clearwell and Coleford are also within easy reach.

As Deanwood doesn’t allow kids, there’s nothing to interrupt the peace and quiet of the site. Spend your days rambling through the local countryside, spotting rare and beautiful birds or simply relax in the clean, fresh Gloucestershire air.

Parva Farm

When visiting the Forest of Dean, you probably don’t expect to see a vineyard. However, in recent years a number of farms have given part of their land over to vines and the region now produces some excellent vintages.

If you want to sample some of the best wine brewed in the Forest of Dean, head to Parva Farm. This privately-owned vineyard makes award winning wines and meads and makes a great destination for a grown up day out. Visit the farm shop to stock up on wine or get in touch with the farm to arrange a tour and tasting.
